Performing and Visual Arts Merge in “About Love”
Transfusion Hype Dance Company and Visual Artist Todd Powelson will tell a love story at the
Rose Wagner March 12, 13 and 14
Transfusion Hype Dance Company is teaming up with visual artist Todd Powelson in About Love, a show about break ups, hook ups and crushes at the Leona Wagner Black Box Theater on March 12, 13 and 14.
“About Love is our annual show,” says Ashlee Prentice, dance company director. “We change it up every year. This time you can expect a bridezilla to rear her ugly head.”
“Everyone has experienced love,” says Todd Powelson, the visual force behind the show. “The drawings and music express the ups and downs of a real life love story.”
Artist Todd Powelson’s pen and ink drawings will serve as the sets for the show paired with original music by UK music producer, Mason Newport. An animated sketch will be created before the audience’s eyes. Powelson’s art will unite the dance and visual elements of the show through the programs, posters and website.
“We wanted every part of the show, from the sets to the flyers to be a work of art,” says Prentice.
Ashlee Prentice the creative force behind Transfusion Hype Dance Company has danced and choreographed for Michael Jackson, BB King and future Olympic gymnasts. About Love is the fourth show she has directed for her dance company. More information is available at www.transfusionhype.com
