I recently made some owl artwork for HawkWatch International.

I have a very strong interest in oracles and omens and I think if we can keep our eyes open, we’ll realize they are everywhere.

It started a few months ago last spring with a pair of coyote I'd sometimes run into. I'd spot them up the hills. By the river.

Whenever a raven or crow soars and squawks overhead I have to stop and watch it fly out of sight.

But today I've adopted this beautiful boy, who I think I'll name Argos.

Watching Cowboy's simple joy at being outside was contagious, and made me want to be right there with him all the time.

I just think he is the best.

This is Buddy, a mitered conure parrot. I’ve been fostering him through Wasatch Avian Education Society, and it is such a pleasure to have him around.

This is Louie. He is my new buddy, a 6 year old indian ringneck parrot. He is such an amazing bird.

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.

I was asked if I’d come up with some new artwork for HawkWatch International, so I said “Sure!”

You may also see that Nature also looks out through your eyes as well. We are all important pieces, helping complete creation.

I think of these birds as fiery phoenix, circling around the woman’s head like souls or spirits, or maybe thoughts and ideas. Either way, they are waiting to take shape in this world.

I went to HawkWatch International’s event “Wings Across the West” up at Red Butte Garden this week.

I didn’t think that I’d be posting more of these birds so soon, but they’ve become an important part of a project I’m working on and am really excited about.

Thanks to everybody who came out to the Urban Arts Festival yesterday!

Birds are an especially powerful symbol for me. A link between heaven and earth.

The show celebrates everything fierce and frail about birds, as well as attempting to link humanity back to its animal roots.

On my walk I came across a herd of deer maybe ten or twenty yards up above me, grazing near and running through the scrub oak.

I’ve never considered myself to be a wildlife artist, even though I love being out in Nature. And I love animals! The Second World is the animal world.
