Todd Powelson’s Angels, Demon’s and Animals opens June 11 at the Utah Arts Alliance Main Street Gallery
I love seeing birds. I spend a lot of time looking up, hoping to glimpse my spirit animals, ravens and falcons. I’m exhibiting a new show dedicated to these feathered friends that opens Tuesday, June 11. The show runs through July 27th and celebrates everything fierce and frail about birds, as well as attempting to link humanity back to its animal roots.
I’ve created a drawing of a hawk using Adobe Ideas on the iPad that will be for sale for $19.00 at the UAA Main Street Gallery, the Urban Arts Gallery and Frisch vegan restaurant in Salt Lake. All of the proceeds from the poster will be donated to the nonprofit, HawkWatch International. I’ve partnered with HawkWatch, and the organizations bird handlers will bring a rehabilitated education raptor to interact with the public at my show’s reception on June 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Utah Arts Alliance Main Street Gallery is located at 127 South Main Street and is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays noon to 5:00 p.m. Angels, Demons and Animals is the second to last show that will be hung in this gallery. In September, the gallery will be dismantled to make way for the new Broadway Theater.
