I seem to be somewhat haunted by a dream of Osiris I had, oh, maybe ten+ years ago. It’s inspired other dream images a time or two (or more) before, and here are two additional dream-portraits and new artwork, called “First Pharaoh Osiris” and “Isis, Throne of Egypt".
These images want to change and morph as you bring them out from the dream-world and into the really real world to be seen with the eye, but I remember the dream-imagery vividly. Osiris’ revived body, plants growing through to animate. Isis out in a field of tall grass searching for the underworld king’s living body. I honestly don’t “remember” (pardon the Osiris pun, ha! Nerd out) my dreams too often, but this one really stuck with me.
I’ll mention one more thing that felt sort-of dream-like, but it actually happened to me: A few weeks ago as I was finishing my Isis artwork below, I was thinking about adding a bird (a hummingbird, specifically) but decided against it thinking it might be too much. Not long after, I was driving home after work or something and was slowing down to stop at a stop sign 🛑 As I did, I saw this bird fly right over my windshield, so close I was worried I might hit it, yikes! But it flew right over my windshield and into my open driver side window, hovering in front of me for eternal seconds, me discovering it was a lovely hummingbird. She flew off and out my window and I went home to include her in my new artwork.
I hope you enjoy! As a reminder for myself because I like to remember these things, I finished Osiris in late May, and Isis toward the end of June.
